I’ll be adding new photographs in this gallery over time, and also some of the photos from the book revealed in extra detail. For example there’s one photo of dolerite that gives a better impresion of a typical weathered dolerite outcrop than the photo selected for the book (photo 4.13). Keep an eye out for new additions (updated 05/05/09).
Photo 4.8 - Flow banding and breccia in intrusive rhyolite - note only the upper bands have been ‘brecciated’.
Photo 4.13 (Supplement) - this photo does not appear in the book, but is a better example of a classic dolerite outcrop than the photo used (4.13). The outcrop shown is about 3m. high and shows typical dolerite features - rounded edges and irregular jointing.
Photo 5.4 - Llyn du’r Arddu
Photo 6.3 - The glacial breaching point at Pen y Pass.
Photo 6.10 - The Llanberis Pass looking towards Pen y Pass.

Photo w7.2 - Ancient fault line and line of the ‘Snowdon caldera’, Carnedd y Cribau. The line continues through the glacial breaching point at Pen y Pass visible in the distance.
