I attended a conference organised by the Montain Leader Training Association late last year at Plas y Brenin, Snowdonia. A big theme was the need for continuing education and training of mountain leaders, even after they have passed their assessments. So there was a lot of interest when I handed out advance notices about the publication of Rock Trails Snowdonia. I was prompted to start writing the book when doing mountain leader training and saw the need for an accessible account of the geology of the mountains. The subject is now an important part of the mountain leader course, making this book ideal reading material for both those doing their training and those who want to update their knowledge.
